ntv7 BRINGS THE CELEBRATED STAR IDOL MALAYSIA
… Asia\'s first interactive variety cum reality drama show to debut on Your Feel Good Channel

Star Idol, one of the award-winning and top rated reality programmes in Singapore will be making its debut soon with the localized version, Star Idol Malaysia. The first interactive variety cum reality drama programme which won the \'Top Rated Variety Show\' Star Award in Singapore last year, is the fifth collaboration between ntv7 and Singapore-based MediaCorp Studios Pte. Ltd.

Prior to this, both parties have partnered to produce drama and variety programmes which include The Beginning, Falling in Love, Man of the House and Battle of the Best.

The 34-episode programme comprises of auditions, competitions and result shows including a special return episode where the eliminated contestants return to battle with each other by performing various acting skills based on the scripts given to them. Hosted by Tan Fun Pin and Tai Chien Yuen, Star Idol Malaysia is a talent competition unlike others. It is the first acting talent quest where the home audience will not only have the golden opportunity to witness the contestant\'s transformations and developments throughout the entire programme, but also undertake the role of \'judges\' via SMS voting. Power is in their hands as they get to determine who leaves and who stays in the competition.

Two permanent judges of Star Idol Malaysia, Charles Jong and Eunice Ng will sit together with a panel of judges who are amongst the best in the showbiz industry. These experts, comprising of producers, directors, scriptwriters and artistes will only be giving advice or comments on the contestant\'s performance.

After the audition process, only the top 20 contestants will be short listed to compete in the second stage, Variety - Top 20. In this round, they will be grouped into a pairing team of a male and female. The pairs are required to act on stage together with the guest celebrities based on the script and viewers are given the opportunity to vote for their favourite act.

Every week, one pair of contestants will be voted out in each episode of thematic test of acting skills. The final eight (four males and four females) will be cast in a drama storyline where the one with the lowest votes will be eliminated. Once a contestant is eliminated, his/her character \'dies\' with him and as a result, the plot of the drama will always revolve. Finally, the remaining contestant will be the first Star Idol Malaysia!
